THDA opens COVID-19 Rent Relief application portal
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Housing Development Agency has opened the online portal to apply for assistance through the COVID-19 Rent Relief Program. The program helps renters and landlords living in 91 Tennessee counties who have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Help is available for past-due rent and/or utilities. Applications are being accepted at www.THDA.org.
Assistance is limited to 12 months in rental and/or utility payments. In order to qualify tenant households must have a total income equal to or less than 80 percent of the area median income. Either a landlord or tenant may initiate an application, however, both parties must participate in the process. Further, the landlord must agree to accept payment from THDA. Because funding for this program is limited, THDA encourages all interested applicants to apply as soon as possible.
Individuals who live in Davidson, Knox, Rutherford, or Shelby counties are not eligible to receive assistance through this program because their local governments have elected to administer their own rent relief. Individuals in these counties should reach out to their local governments to learn how to apply for
