FAQ

MEMBERSHIP

What am I joining exactly?

By joining the RIver Counties Association of REALTORS® you will be joining 3 associations.  Our local Association (RCAR), the Tennessee Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR).

These three member associations provide local, state and national benefits and services that you will use throughout your career.  There is power in numbers and the voice of the REALTOR® community is heard loud and clear.

Along with the aforementioned, you will additionally be permitted use of the “REALTOR” logo and trademark. This logo is only used by members and literally means “member”.  It is copyright protected and held in the highest esteem by the consumer.

Membership dues to these 3 associations are paid to RCAR, by all members, and are always due October 31 annually. Non-payment of REALTOR® dues will result in deactivation of your REALTOR® status and benefits, including access to the REALTOR® Legal Hotline and all other benefits.

In addition, Brokers must return any licenses to TREC for unpaid licensee upon notification from RCAR.

Association dues are billed on October 1 annually for all 3 associations.  They are due before October 1 annually to avoid late fees. If not paid by the date prescribed in the bylaws, members will be dropped from membership and all services will be discontinued.

Can I join RCAR if my Real Estate License is Inactive?

No, you must have an Active Real Estate License or Broker’s License to become a member of RCAR. Once you place your active license with  a REALTOR broker member, you must join the association within 15 days to be in compliance and to avoid additional penalties and/or fees.

When / Where would a REALTOR® use the Username and Password?

Membership dues are due every year and you may log on to the RCAR Management Service (AMS) software to make a payment with a link found on the RiverCounties.com homepage.  Also, you may log on to the Events and Education at that web location as well.

MLS SERVICES

What is MLS?

The acronym stands for Multiple Listing Service.

Why do I need MLS services?

This is the platform in which you will enter data for the listings your clients want you to sell.  It provides information to other MLS users as to the specifics of the property being sold.  It is where you will look for listings that your buyers want to purchase.  It is a venue for offering compensation to others for their representation of a buyer in the sale of real property.

How often do I pay MLS fees?

MLS Fees are invoiced 2 times per year, billed in January and June.

How do I join MLS?

To provide services to your clients you will need to purchase user rights to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS).

The RCAR application includes the required information for MLS services and part of your membership requires that you participate in the MLS services through your Broker.

Service fees for the MLS are paid on a bi-annually basis through our RCAR Association Management Service (AMS) software with a link found on the RiverCounties.com homepage.  You will receive an email reminder; however, it is your sole responsibility to remember this payment quarterly.

SUPRA KEY

How do I get a SUPRA Key?

Only the members who are individuals with licenses held through TREC are eligible to lease a SUPRA key.

There are various options for key service and after joining RCAR you will need to come to our office to complete a lease agreement and pay those additional fees. Supra is a separate company and all billing is done through them after your initial application is done through RCAR.

I changed phones and I need a new authorization code.  Where do I get this code?

Please contact RCAR at 423.476.5912 and one of our empowering staff members will obtain an authorization code for you.
If our office is closed you can provide the email address or phone number along with your PIN number and Supra will send the authorization code directly to you.

I upgraded my smartphone and my key fob won’t work on the new phone.  What do I need to do?

The key fobs are an actual purchase and not leased.  Supra’s Fob instructions can be found here.

Why should I get involved?

Many members do not realize that the association in governed completely by its member volunteers.  By serving others you will gain knowledge from those who have been the decision makers and creators of policy years before you.  This is invaluable to your business and can prepare you to succeed where others cannot.
