We are pleased to announce that the MLS BOD has approved changes to the MLS Rules & Regulations Fine Chart that are more aligned with the issues, software and regulations that have been raised by members.
While cleaning up our data from the conversion to Navica, many of you noticed a great deal of incorrect data. Although the first year of Navica was spent trying to get training and implementation of the new system accomplished, during the pandemic, in year 2 we made a goal to improve data integrity so your searches and CMA’s would have the best value possible.
During the last 4 months we have seen the data improve, but also realized the penalties for some mistakes, which can be considered input type errors, albeit very important, were just too severe.
That being said, I established a PAG (Presidential Advisory Group) to tackle the MLS Rules & Regulations Fine Chart and subsequent imposition of the fines.
They have completed their tasks and the MLS BOD has adopted a revised fine chart which will be retroactive to January 1, 2021. Staff will be issuing notices to anyone who received fines under the previous system within the next week, either letting them know there is no longer a fine associated with a previous issue, that has since been rectified, or that it has been reduced under the new fine chart.
It is not now, nor has it ever been a goal of the association to make money off it’s members due to fines imposed for breaking the MLS Rules. However, fines were established to ensure compliance for potential violations by members in a timely manner. MLS Rules & Regulations are a combination of NAR Mandated rules and local rules, and are required to be in place pursuant to the charter of the association with NAR.
The newly revised chart is located at the back of the MLS rules, and has been posted on the Navica site and the www.RiverCounties.com
